Choice And Flexibility #LoveWhereYouWork - Nikki Rafie & Elfreda Chan

by Chris Brablc in June 24th, 2022

The idea below is one of the 20+ ideas from our 2022 Workplace Experience Ideabook (which you can download here). Today's idea comes from Twitter's Nikki Rafie, Senior Program Manager of Global Workplace Strategy, and Elfreda Chan, Sr. Director - Global Workplace Operations. They discuss how working at a choice-led company impacts their work both in and out of the office.

Work at Twitter is hybrid and choice-led, and the office will always be an important, but never the only, option in the ecosystem of places where work happens. Choice enables people to become more intentional when coming to the office, thus making it a more meaningful part of their work.

We recognize that everyone has different preferences and needs, and different reasons for why, when, and how they might choose to use the office. We empower this choice every day through the creation of different environments for collaboration, socialization, and focus work that can be reserved ahead or used as needed, while also supporting work at home.

A multifaceted communication plan complements this provision of choice, to support new behaviors as people transition from being forced to work at home during the pandemic, to adapting to new patterns driven by personalized, individual needs. This includes the continued push for equitable meeting experiences and asynchronous collaboration to remain inclusive to everyone, no matter where they are.

Maintaining an iterative and adaptive mindset ensures that the office continues to be a meaningful part of where people work through 2022 and beyond.
